Colors have a powerful influence on our daily lives.
One of the most common problems people have when dealing with their wardrobe or any home décor project lies in knowing what colors go together. The concept of color matching is one that some people seem to have no ability to get a handle on, while others seem to have a sixth sense about it. However, color coordination is simple and Mother Nature seems to be getting it right every time. When you juxtapose one color next to another one, the combination will affect how those colors are being read by the brain — and, usually, it is radically different than taking just one color at a time.
For a better understanding of how color combinations work, colors can be divided in four groups:
A. Warm colors – they energize us and get us going; they can create excitement or anger. As a general rule, warm colors mean “action”. Warm colors appear larger (make you look bigger, wider) than cool colors. Warm colors are: RED, PINK, YELLOW, GOLD, ORANGE, BLACK, BROWN. B. Cool colors – they calm and cool us down. Cool colors appear smaller (they help trim down our appearance) than warm colors. Cool colors are: BLUE, GREEN, TURQUOISE, GRAY, SILVER, WHITE. Read more about cool colors combinations and how to wear cool colors by following this link.
C. Mixed cool/warm colors. These colors have attributes from both the warm and cool colors; they can calm or excite. Mixed colors derive from the mix of a cool and a warm color such as blue and red or blue and yellow. Mixed colors are: PURPLE, LAVANDER, GREEN, TURQUOISE, BEIGE.
